Speeding

There were complaints received about cars speeding on the streets of Wilsonville Meadows.  In response the city was contacted and some speed tests were conducted on two main streets, Willow Creek and Meadows Loop.

The results of the initial tests showed that there was a small percentage of cars that were speeding.  Then the city put in some “your speed is” radar signs along Meadows Loop and saw a reduction in speeding cars. Speed bumps were discussed but the city decided not to install speed bumps and in order to keep speeds down the city plans to periodically place the “your speed is” radar signs on various streets in Wilsonville Meadows.

Also, the WMHOA board would like to remind residents that the maximum speed is 25MPH on all streets in Wilsonville Meadows. There are many small children which play and ride bikes on the streets. Please keep your speed down, be very alert for kids darting out into streets and remind all the drivers (especially the new drivers) in your family to keep their speeds at or under 25MPH to keep our streets safe for everyone.

The below email was sent from the city.

Subject: FW: DATA-Meadow Speed

The second traffic speed study has shown that the speeds on Meadow loop have decreased to a reasonable speed since our increased enforcement and reader boards have been in the area. This data confirms that most people just need to be reminded of the speed they are traveling and once they are reminded they tend to respect the speed limits and slow down. Due to the decreased speeds in the area, the city of Wilsonville recommends no further action at this time.
